Enhancing sustainable tourism, clean production and export capacity in Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Phase II
This project was part of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to large project aiming to enhance sustainable tourism, clean production and export competitiveness in Lao PDR, to facilitate pro-poor development, income and job creation and to strengthen the value-chains in the tourism, agriculture and handicraft sectors.
ENF was contracted to do the following:
- technical supports for the Luang Prabang Organic Agriculture Association (LOAA) to develop its business operation plan for its demonstration farm
- the operation plan is implemented so the demonstration farm becomes financially sustainable, thus contributing sustainable income revenues for the LOAA;
- technical supports for LOAA’s staff at the demonstration farm to improve their technical competencies, including capacity to train other farmers;
- to assist the LOAA to increase the farmer members to 250 families within the next 2 years;
- to assist the LOAA to increase the organic product supplies to at least 15 hotels and/or restaurants (backward linkages);
- to create at least 5 new jobs for the operation of the demonstration farm and delivery of organic products to hotel and/or restaurants;
- to device a practical training programme for youngsters on organic farming and have at least 24 youngsters participated in this training programme.
