Earth Net Foundation (ENF) was contracted to help training cacao producer groups in Vietnam to prepare themselves for organic certifications. Around 200 cacao producers, located in the Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, Southern Vietnam, have been supported by Helvetas, the Swiss Association for International Cooperation since 2009 under the Organic and UTZ cacao in Vietnam project. Since 2010, the groups have embarked on utz and organic productions and they received the utz certification in 2011.
As technical consultant, Vitoon Panyakul from ENF was tasked to review the groups’ internal control system (ICS) of the current organic cocoa-coconut productions and assist them to prepare for external certification, including technical and managerial training for the project staff and stakeholders. The mission was carried out during mid June 2012.
